Choosing our Direction
We were given research on cyclists in Columbus, OH, and their safety. We then assessed how we could use this research to inform a home goods product that pertained to personal safety. To make the product sustainable, we sourced discarded bike materials from a local bike repair Co-Op that is local to Columbus.

Market Research on existing portable door locks

Initial Sketch of concept

Final concept sketch before we moved into prototyping (drawn by Sam Gaerke)

Prototyping with inner tubes and front derailers. In the end, we used an industrial strength glue for raw edges and then hand-sewed the inner tube rubber.

Technical drawing of final template and metal lock mechanism completed by myself.

This video was recorded by Mylo Johnson and Annie Roo and edited by Annie Roo for a project in a separate course. (Video is not made by my team members, but this explains our product well)
